Electronic Medical Record Analysis and Review

Very few hospitals in the 100 bed or less space have the industry knowledge and IT/Clinical manpower to know everything that is needed to meet all of the new Federal Guidelines as it pertains to Electronic Medical Record and the steps to become “Meaningful Use” compliant. As we enter 2012, the Federal Government is asking hospitals to increase their spending and expertise on Electronic Health Record (EHR) and to get to “meaningful use”.

Hospitals that have been surveyed by AGL have stated that, almost exclusively, their knowledge/expertise on these governmental mandates are coming from their present IT vendor that is attempting to sell them additional IT products and services or a new IT vendor that is attempting to sell them products and services. Another way that the hospital is trying to get up to speed on these issues is asking, already overworked, hospital personnel to become “experts” on this very comprehensive and complicated process.

AGL Hospital Consulting will conduct a thorough analysis of the hospitals present IT systems and Clinical workflows that are presently in place. The hospital's procedures will be audited to ascertain if the hospital meets the federal criteria as it pertains to Stage 1 of Meaningful Use. The hospitals pathway strategy to Stages 2 and 3 of Meaningful Use also will be determined. AGL will conduct interviews with Nursing, Laboratory, Pharmacy, IT, Materials Management, SPD/CS, Radiology and Administration to gain a complete picture of the hospitals workflow. Once the interview and observation process is completed, AGL will present a written analysis to hospital administration.

If desired, AGL can continue it's work with the hospital to begin a vendor selection process that will guarantee that the right products at the right price are chosen.
